The legalization process typically involves several steps:
- Identify the type of document. Is it a state-issued, federal, or personal document, etc.?
- Identify the county of destination. What country will your document(s) be sent to?
- Apostille at the Secretary of State where your document was issued. For example, if your document was issued in California, you will need an Apostille in the state of California.
- Legalization with the Embassy/Consulate where your document will be used.
